Yahoo Widgets

7 03 2009

I use yahoo widgets on my desktop pc. Its pretty much the equivalent to Dashboard in Mac OS X.

I really only use two widgets for it at the moment, Theweathernetwork’s WeatherEye and planner widget that lets me organize all of my school assignments and what not.

It is completely free and very helpful depending on what widgets you get.

There is almost a widget out there for everything you want to do on your computer. From system monitoring widgets to random amusing widgets. It is much, much better than the windows sidebar feature in windows vista. I doubt its better than dashboard in Mac OS X, though. Yes, It is Mac OS X compatible as well.

I reccomend you check it out @widgets.yahoo.com

How to turn of UAC.

14 11 2008

Ever wanted to turn off that annoying window that pops up in vista when you open a program. “You have opened (insert program name here), Cancel or allow”.

Unless you don’t have a good antivirus program, theres really no point in having it activated if you do have a good antivirus program.

First, you need to get to your control panel.
Then go to user accounts.

You’ll then want to open user accounts.

From there, in the list of links, you will see a link with a little shield on the left of it. Thats where you want to click. Once you click, UAC will pop up and ask you if you want to continue, Click Continue.

Now, there should be something that looks like this on your screen.tutorial_turnoffuac_31

Then just restart your computer and UAC should be disabled.
